Menu Plan Monday

•October 16, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Well, here is my very first post for Menu Plan Monday.  I know that planning is an important key for me to stay organized and to save money. In the past I have been a list maker – but rarely have I made them work. With God’s help, I am determined to be an overcomer in this area of my life, and to make this a weekly event.

I want my menu plans to consist of healthy, simple meals. I am trying to change our eating habits slowly,  and with my family’s preferences in mind. Our lifestyle is often a bit crazy with people coming and going. With homeschooling my days are full, and although I love to cook, I have often lacked time and motivation.   Over the past few years, I have slipped into a dependence upon convenience foods full of who knows what! This is a habit that I need to break. So here goes!

Nourishing Foods

I am again trying to make the switch to a healthier lifestyle! My personal challenge is to return to eating whole, natural foods , with little or no manufactured oils, refined sugars and flours, or hormone-injected meats and dairy. I am keenly aware of my responsibility to provide nourishing foods for my loved ones. I want to be more diligent in protecting my family’s health. I pray for the Lord’s help to become more diligent, more consistent and more faithful to His call on my life.

Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal forthe prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 3.13-14

Outside Hour Challenge

For some time I have wanted to include Nature Study in our weekly routine; especially after reading about the Charlotte Mason approach to teaching children.  Spending time in the ‘great outdoors’, exploring and enjoying God’s beautiful creation – what a wonderful way to learn! I was really excited to find the Outdoor Hour Challenge from the Handbook of Nature Study Blog. I am needing a bit of structure to help me get started. It is so very inspiring to see what other families are doing. Check out the Outside Hour Challenge Pages (on the right) to watch our progress!
